In 1950, a group of young chief executives gathered to discuss their achievement ideals with the intent of helping one another to succeed. Twenty executives attended that first meeting of the Young Presidents' Organization, which has since grown into a worldwide, non-profit organization of more than 18,000 chief executives in 100 countries. The Hong Kong Chapter of YPO began in 1976. Since then, its members have shaped an exemplary environment of information exchange, mutual support and education geared to achieving the YPO purpose of creating better leaders through education and idea exchange. In addition to creating high quality education programs designed to meet the unique demands of chief executive members and their families in Hong Kong, the Hong Kong Chapter has developed ten Presidents' Forums and four Spouses' Forums which makes it one of the most active chapters in the world outside the U.S. at Forum level. One of the missions YPO Hong Kong has adopted in its strategic direction is to pledge its support to other Asia / Australia / Pacific chapters. This mission was fully realized when YPO Hong Kong helped to inaugurate the first YPO chapter in China successfully in 1993 the Shanghai Chapter in 2001 and eventually the Beijing Chapter in 2005. |
